Kedarnath Yatra: Gaurikund Landslide

Three pilgrims have died due to falling of stones on the Kedarnath Yatra route in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Two people have been injured in this accident. The pilgrims were going towards Kedarnath Dham from the footpath built in Chirvasa, 3 km away from Gaurikund, when they were hit by stones.

The information about the accident has been given by Rudraprayag District Disaster Management. Information about where the deceased people were from has not been revealed yet. However, NDRF teams have started relief and rescue work.

Pieces of rocks fell from the mountain, NDRF teams are engaged in rescuing people and clearing the road.

Warning of heavy rains in Uttarakhand
The Meteorological Department has also warned of heavy rain in Uttarakhand in the next 48 hours. A red alert has been issued for the Kumaon region and a yellow alert for the Garhwal region. On July 21, a red alert has been issued in Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. While an orange alert has been issued in Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in the rest of the districts of the state including Dehradun.
