Yogi government in action after stampede in Mahakumbh, all VIP pass canceled, vehicles will not go to the fair

Prayagraj: After the stampede on Wednesday in Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has now taken strict action. In this stampede that took place on the day of Mauni Amavasya, 30 devotees died and more than 90 people were injured. After this accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the judicial commission to conduct an inquiry, as well as the police inquiry has been started. A compensation of Rs 25 lakh has been announced to the families of those killed in the accident.

Ban on entry of vehicles in Prayagraj

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken immediate steps to control the situation after the accident. He has directed to ban and cancel all VIP passes in the fair area. By 4 February, devotees will be allowed to go to Sangam on foot. The entry of 4 -wheelers has also been banned in Prayagraj city. Only bikes, ambulances and fire brigades will be allowed to go to the city. Also, the fair area has been declared a no vehicle zone.

Instructions to investigate the cause of the accident

CM Yogi has given instructions to investigate the cause of this accident. According to the preliminary report, the pontoon bridge was closed due to Amrit bath on the day of Mauni Amavasya, gathering at the confluence. In addition, a stampede -like situation arose due to the same way of entry and exit. The administration has now taken concrete steps to solve these problems and has made changes in the system in the fair area.

One-way roads within the fair area

Taking a lesson from the accident of Mauni Amavasya, the government has made the paths inside the fair area one-way. Now the devotees will be sent back from the other way after bathing. In addition, 8 major borders visiting Prayagraj have been discontinued, which is expected to help in the crowd control. Through these steps, the administration wants to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future.

10 crore devotees bathed on Wednesday

Despite the accident, devotees continue to bathe in Mahakumbh. Till Wednesday night, 10 crore devotees are expected to bathe at 44 ghats including Sangam. In view of the security system, more than 60000 personnel have been deployed in the entire Prayagraj. The devotees are being appealed to take a bath where they are and avoid unnecessary crowd in the Sangam area.
