Vishal Gawli, accused of kidnapping, rape and murder of a minor girl in Maharashtra’s welfare, committed suicide by hanging himself from a towel in Taloja Jail at 3:30 am. His body has been sent to JJ Hospital for postmortem. Taloja Jail Officer said that the accused Vishal Gawli was lodged in Taloja Jail for three and a half months.

What is the matter?
Police said that a minor girl raped and murder in Kalyan town allegedly committed suicide in Taloja Central Jail in neighboring Navi Mumbai in the early hours of Sunday. Accused Vishal Gawli (35) was found hanging in the jail toilet at around 3:30 am. Gawli went to the toilet and was allegedly hanged using a towel.

Jail officials found dead body
An official of the Kharghar police station said that the jail authorities later found the dead body. The local police were immediately informed and the Panchnama was done. To find out the exact cause of death, the body has been sent to the government JJ Hospital in neighboring Mumbai for postmortem.
12 -year -old girl accused of rape and murder
Gawli is accused of rape and murder of a 12 -year -old girl in Kalyan area of Thane district of Maharashtra in December 2024. The incident caused outrage in the area. People had demanded quick and strict punishment for criminals. Officials had earlier reported that the girl had gone missing from Kolsewadi area on 24 December and later her body was found in Bapgaon village of Padgha of Thane Rural Police Jurisdiction.

A charge sheet of 948 pages was filed
In an investigation conducted by the Kolsewadi police, Gawli and his wife Sakshi were accused of kidnapping, rape, murder, disappearance of evidence for ransom. Apart from this, both were arrested on charges of other offenses under the Code of India of Justice and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Kalyan police filed a 948 -page charge sheet against the couple in February this year.
Wife helped to throw the dead body
A police statement said earlier, ‘Vishal Gawli raped and murdered the girl. Sakshi helped her throw the dead body in Bapgaon.
