Republican party senators Lindsay Graham, Ted Cruise and Katie Brit have introduced this bill. The Bill states that the congenital citizenship law is being misused. The Bill quoted the Center for Immigration Studies as saying that in the year 2023, only two and a half lakh children have got congenital citizenship. This is seven percent of the total children born in America.

Senator Lindsay Graham, who introduced the bill, said that the US is already too late to change its policy on birthright, as it is being misused. He said that an example is of birth tourism, in which rich people from China and other countries come to America only to have children in the US to get American citizenship. Graham also praised Trump’s executive order in the case. The Bill states that the US should not reward illegal immigration by giving American citizenship and the same has been happening for a long time.

‘Congenital citizenship rights are being misused’
