What is the claim?
A video is going viral on social media, in which some people are seen abusing and beating a person. While sharing this video, it is being claimed that in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim youth was caught urinating on the banner of Mahakumbh, after which he was beaten badly.
Mahakumbh is a pilgrimage festival of Hindu religion, which is organized at intervals of several years. This time this event is being held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh after 12 years.
While sharing the video on X, a user wrote, “Rae Bareli, UP: Abdul urinated on the pictures of Maha Kumbh and Hindu Gods and Goddesses on the wall, locals caught him.” Archived versions of such posts Here, Here, Here, Here, Here And Here Can be seen. However, the viral claim is false. This video is from Bachhrawan town of Rae Bareli, where a person named Vinod, under the influence of alcohol, urinated on a wall on which the poster of Mahakumbh was pasted. This incident happened on January 10.
How did the truth come out?
Give us a screenshot of the viral video news report Found, in which it was told that on January 10, 2025, in Bachhrawan town of Rae Bareli, a young man was brutally beaten by the mob on the charge of urinating on the poster of Mahakumbh. Based on this information, we contacted Bachhrawan police station in-charge Om Prakash Tiwari.
While talking to Logically Facts, Om Prakash Tiwari clarified that the person concerned belongs to the Hindu community and his name is Vinod. He said, “No FIR was registered in this case. As a precautionary measure, he has been sent to the magistrate. He was neither arrested nor fined. But he signed a bond, In which he has promised not to do this again. There is no communal aspect in this incident.
Rae Bareli police posted a statement responding to a post on X and clarified that the person seen in the viral clip was not a Muslim. statement (archive Here) it is written, “He [विनोद] On January 10, around 8:00 pm, he was sitting near a wall in Bachhrawan in an inebriated state. The local people also fed him food. He started urinating on a wall nearby. Some people objected and started beating him calling him a Muslim. However, people who recognized Vinod intervened and helped him escape from the spot.”
The statement further said that during the investigation, the police found that Vinod unknowingly urinated on the wall where the Mahakumbh poster was pasted.
