The government on Tuesday introduced the bill providing for simultaneous holding of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the country in the lower house of Parliament i.e. Lok Sabha amid strong opposition from the opposition parties. Presenting this bill, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the government is ready to send these bills to the Joint Committee of Parliament for comprehensive discussion.

However, after the events that took place during the presentation of the bill in Parliament, the faces of the opposition MPs were seen glowing. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also did not rush on this bill and immediately agreed to send it to the joint committee. It is noteworthy that many MPs had given notices under the rules in the Lok Sabha to stop the introduction of this bill.
