Diwali News: Diwali is a festival and people are celebrating it not only in India but also in other countries of the world. Recently, Diwali celebrations were organized at the White House, America’s presidential palace, in which many people participated. Here the Hindu Aarti song Om Jai Jagdish Hare was played which surprised everyone. The video was shared by Geeta Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.
Om Jai Jagdish Hare sung in White House
Geeta Gopinath, the first Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has shared a video on Instagram, in which the White House military band has played ‘Om Jai Jagdish Hare’ on the occasion of Diwali. Om Jai Jagadish Hare is a widely revered Hindu aarti song, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of the major deities of Hinduism. Posting the video, Geeta Gopinath wrote on X, “It was amazing to hear the White House Military Band playing Om Jai Jagdish Hare for Diwali. Happy Diwali.” She attended the Diwali celebrations at the White House hosted by US President Joe Biden on October 27.

More than 600 people participated
More than 600 people attended the Diwali celebration held at the White House, including Congress member Thanedar, US Surgeon General Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy and Gopinath, among others. Addressing the people present there, Biden said, “As President, I have the honor of hosting the largest Diwali celebration ever held at the White House.” “For me, it means a lot. As senator, vice president and president; South Asian Americans have been key members of my staff.”

After assuming the post of Chief Economist of IMF from October 2018, Geeta Gopinath is working as the first Deputy Managing Director of IMF from 21 January 2022. Prior to this, she was an academic in the Department of Economics at Harvard University for 20 years and was an Assistant Professor at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
