Missing ladies dominated in Japan
Lapata Ladies is currently in its seventeenth week in Japanese theaters. It has been ruling Japanese theaters for 115 consecutive days. Of the 204 worthy films released in Japan in 2024, the film has been selected as one of the top five foreign films by the Japan Academy Film Award. The winner of the best international film will be revealed on 14 March.

Biplab Goswami’s Award Winning Story acted as inspiration for the script of this film. Sneha Desai has written scripts and dialogues. The film stars Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Srivastava with actors like Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan. Made in a budget of Rs 4-5 crore, the film earned Rs 27.06 crore worldwide, with India’s total earnings of Rs 24.31 crore.
Oscar out of 2025 race
Kiran Rao’s ‘missing Ladies’ was India’s official entry for Oscar 2025. However, the film could not make a place in the final nomination. It was excluded from the top 15 rounds.
