The importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas:
The Kargil war that took place in the Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir between May and July 1999 was an important conflict between India and Pakistan. It all began when Pakistani troops violated Indian borders thereby occupying strategic sites.
The Indian Army had to use operation Vijay II so that it can protect its line control’s sanctity and regain from them what they had taken away from us during that time. On 26th July, 1999 fierce fighting broke out between them leading to India winning thus celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The Air Force showcased how Air Force officers helped the Army in 1999. 25 years of victory in the Kargil war are being completed on 26 July. On this occasion, the Air Force is celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas Silver Jubilee from 12 July to 26 July at Sarsawa Air Force Station in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Air shows are being organised at Sarsawa Air Force Station. Air Force officers performed stunts with fighter jets Sukhoi, Rafale, Jaguar, MI-17 helicopter, AN-32 and Dornier aircraft. Commandos were also seen descending from helicopters from 10 thousand feet.

The commandos climbed onto the MI-17 helicopter using ropes. The Air Force told how it had helped them land in the Kargil war zone in 1999.
Commending Heroes
We remember our soldiers’ audacity and brave acts on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Throughout the war effort, there was high bravery levels especially as they were able to retake lost peaks despite harsh weather conditions and hostile terrains. Names such as Captain Vikram Batra, Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey among others were included in Indian military history books due to their exceptional courage.

Occasions Set Aside For Remembering
Various programs and ceremonies take place across India to remember fallen soldiers and veterans of Kargil War. Kargil War Memorial in Dras is the setting of the main function where dignitaries gather together with families mourning over their loved ones.
Such events may include seminars, exhibitions as well as film shows. During this day schools organize essay writing competitions, quizzes and poems reciting activities in order to instill patriotism and respect for our soldiers.
The commandos descended from a height of 10,000 feet. At this time, they also had weapons in their hands.

Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder that although the day is marked by somberity it also symbolizes a moment for celebrating the resilience and invincibility of the Indian military arm. It is also about recognizing the sacrifices made by soldiers in order to ensure safety and security of our nation. Henceforth the spirit of patriotism in each one of us has blossomed
The Air Force’s Sukhoi fighter jet performed stunts by rotating it 360 degrees in the air.
Messages From Leaders
During this solemn occasion all leaders from various political divide appreciate the soldiers for their sacrifices and bravery. On this day, the President, Prime Minister and other leaders from around the globe remember what happened during Kargil war with pride and respect on the victory of Indian troops over Pakistan’s forces led by General Pervez Musharraf. They group together in order to share messages of peace and development, hence avoiding nothing else but war crimes or planned actions against unarmed civilians.
Jaguar aircraft were seen in Trishul formation. They flew from Ambala and directly passed over the grounds of Sarsawa Air Station.
At the Kargil Vijay Diwas Silver Jubilee, the Air Force told how the war zone was attacked with the help of helicopters in 1999.
The Air Force showed how the enemy positions on the Kargil hill were attacked by throwing grenades from the air.
On 26th July 2024,is the day to recognize dead soldiers who sacrificed themselves in order for us live today in peace through India’s win that portrays its power and resolve. In memory of our fallen heroes’ let us revisit 26-Jul to honor those who died fighting for us so that we may live without fear, together valorousness comes first among civic virtues Jai Hind!
