The space agency said, ‘The Space Docking Experiment is an important mission to establish India’s ability to dock in Earth orbit, which is a vital technology for future human space missions and satellite service missions.’ An ISRO official said that the 25-hour countdown which started at 9 pm on Sunday night is continuing. Before India, only China, Russia and America have successfully tested space docking. The success of India’s Chandrayaan-4 mission also depends on the Spacex mission. The Spadex launching will be telecast live on ISRO’s YouTube channel from 9.30 pm onwards.

What is space docking mission and why is it important?

Under this mission, ISRO will connect two spacecraft in low Earth orbit. Besides, after connecting the spacecraft, the technology of transferring electric power to them will also be tested. How challenging this mission is can be gauged from the fact that in the ISRO PSLV rocket, two spacecraft – Spacecraft A (SDX01) and Spacecraft B (SDX02) will be placed in an orbit that will keep them 5 km away from each other. Km away. After reaching Earth’s orbit, the speed of the spacecraft will be about 28,800 kilometers per hour. This speed will be 36 times more than the speed of a commercial aircraft and 10 times more than the speed of a bullet. In this speed, the speed of both the spacecraft will be first controlled from the ground and brought to a speed of 0.25 kilometers per hour and then both the spacecraft will be linked together. ISRO officials said the process is expected to take place about 10-14 days after the scheduled launch on Monday.

This technology will also be used in Chandrayaan-4 mission, in which samples from the Moon will be brought back to Earth. India will also need docking technology to build its own station in space and to travel there. Docking techniques are also used when multiple rocket launches are planned to achieve shared mission objectives.
