India has entered the semi-finals of men’s hockey at the Paris OlympicsThe Indian team defeated Britain 4-2 in the penalty shootout.

The India-Britain match at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Columbus remained tied at 1-1 till full time. The decision was made in the penalty shootout. India scored 4 consecutive goals in the shootout. The British team was able to score only two goals. Indian goalkeeper Sreejesh was the hero of the victory, who saved 2 goals.

Lalit Upadhyay scored in the third attempt and gave India a 3-2 lead. Here Britain’s Conor Williamson missed the goal. In the fourth attempt, Rajkumar Pal managed to score a goal by beating Britain’s goalkeeper, while Philip Roper also missed. In this way India won 4-2.

2 Amazing performance by Sreejesh, saved 11 penalty corners

India’s experienced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh stood like a wall in front of the goal post. He made two successful saves in the penalty shootout. Not only this, Britain got 9 penalty corners during the match, but Sreejesh made successful saves on all occasions.

Sreejesh said after the match- ‘I told myself that this could be my last match or if I save it, I can play 2 more matches here. I am happy with the victory.’

In the 12th minute of the match, the referee showed a red card to Indian team’s first pacer Amit Rohidas. From here on, the Indian team played with 10 players for the last 48 minutes and conceded just one goal.
