Chandigarh: The Haryana government on Friday declared a one-day holiday in all schools in the state following the demise of INLD chief and former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala. After this decision of the government, all the schools of the state will remain closed on 21st December i.e. Saturday, and all the government offices of the state will also remain closed on this day. Along with this, the Haryana government has also announced 3 days of state mourning from Friday in honor of the former Chief Minister of the state. Chautala died in Gurugram on Friday.
‘All programs of the state government will remain cancelled’
The order issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary of Haryana states, ‘The state government has decided to observe 3-day state mourning from December 20 to 22. During this period, the national flag will remain at half-mast on all buildings across the state where it is regularly flown. It has been said in the order that during this period all the programs of the state government will remain cancelled. According to the order, the Haryana government has also declared a public holiday in all the offices of the state government on Saturday as a mark of respect to the deceased.
‘Died in Gurugram at the age of 89’
Let us tell you that Chautala will be cremated with state honors at 3 pm at Teja Kheda Farm in his native district Sirsa. Chautala, president of the Indian National Lok Dal and five-time Chief Minister of Haryana, died in Gurugram on Friday at the age of 89. A party spokesperson said that Chautala, son of the country’s former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, suffered a heart attack at his home. He said that Chautala was immediately taken to the hospital, but he could not be saved. A senior police officer said that the former Chief Minister breathed his last at Medanta Hospital.
