Government on Fake Caste Certificate:
The government said on Thursday that as per the existing instructions, a government employee can be dismissed for giving wrong information or presenting fake caste certificate to get appointment. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. He said that from time to time government ministries and departments receive complaints of getting jobs on the basis of fake caste certificates, which are usually forwarded to the concerned ministries / departments for appropriate action. He said, “As per the existing instructions, if it is found that a government employee has given wrong information or presented wrong certificate to get appointment, then he should not be kept in service.
You committed fraud to get a job and lost your job
The minister said when the appointing authority finds that an employee has produced a fake caste certificate, it initiates action to remove or dismiss such employee from service as per the provisions of the relevant service rules. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had recently cancelled the provisional candidature of probationary IAS officer Pooja Khedkar and debarred her from all future examinations for fraudulently attempting the civil services examination by showing fake caste certificate beyond her qualifications. She is also accused of misusing the disability and OBC quota. Singh said the responsibility to issue and verify caste/community certificates lies with the respective state governments.
What did Minister Jitendra Singh say
The minister said that the states and Union Territories have been requested on several occasions to ensure that the caste certificates sent to the district authorities are verified and the information is conveyed to the appointing authority within one month of receipt of the request from such authority. “If no report is received from the concerned State/UT authorities within a period of one month, the Ministries or Departments are required to take up the matter with the States/UTs to complete the verification process,” he said.
