What is the claim?
A video is going viral on social media, in which a young man is seen trying to kill a girl. During this time, the people present there try to save the girl and finally rescue her from the hands of the young man. Later, the girl is seen unconscious on the road.
By sharing this video it is being presented in a communal manner. It is claimed that the accused youth is from the Muslim community, while the victim girl is a Hindu.
A user named Yeti Narasimhanand Saraswati on Video While posting, the caption was, “Amroha UP. Then a Jihadi tried to make a Hindu girl his victim after she refused. My Hindu lions saved that girl.” This post has received more than 75,000 views, 370 reposts and 500 likes so far. However, our investigation revealed that there is no truth in the claims of the viral posts. In this incident in Amroha district, both the accused and the victim belong to the Hindu community. The claim of the accused being a Muslim is wrong.
How did we find out the truth?
Searching through relevant keywords, we found several media reports related to the incident, which identified the accused as Rahul, and the father’s name as Dharamveer.
Published January 6, 2025 Till today According to the report, this incident took place in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. The victim is a medical college student and was friends with a village youth named Rahul, who was angry with her over some issue. On Saturday, January 4, she was returning to her village on a scooter when Rahul stopped her on the Gajraula-Samelpur road. After this, he attacked the girl. Then he tried to strangle the girl. Meanwhile, some passers-by reached the spot and saved the girl, while Rahul escaped.

The accused was presented in the court and sent to jail. According to the police, the accused Rahul is an eccentric and wandering person. After the incident, he was hiding at his sister’s house in Moradabad and was planning to escape to Delhi, but the police caught him in time.

We also got a copy of the FIR lodged at Gajraula police station on this incident, in which the name of Rahul son Dharamveer is clearly mentioned as the accused. Logically Facts has hidden the names of the girl and her family members in the FIR because she is a minor.

Amroha Police also made a viral post on X. comment section (archive Here) clarified that the accused youth has been arrested, and both the parties are related.

From our investigation so far, it has become clear that there is no communal aspect in this incident that took place in Amroha district and both the parties belong to the Hindu community. The claim of the accused being a Muslim is wrong.
