In today’s busy life, exercise plays very important  role in human’s life. Now a new research has come out regarding exercise, which states that by following a regular exercise routine, you can keep your brain healthy and the effect of this exercise lasts for many years. Let us tell you about it in detail.

This thing came out in research

According to the information, a new study has been published in the Medical Journal Aging and Disease. It states that if you exercise regularly for six months now, it helps boost your brain health for many years. For this study, researchers selected 151 elderly people aged 65 to 85 years, who were included in a six-month exercise program. All of them underwent several tests, including brain scans as well as biomarker and cognition tests.

This kind of study was done

Let us tell you that all the 151 people included in this study were tracked for five years. Researchers observed that the cognition of all these people had improved. This included things related to the brain such as thinking, attention, language, learning, memory etc. The study found that the effect of these remained intact for about five years in all 151 people.

Candidates did these exercises

It is worth noting that all the candidates were made to do three types of exercises. The first was low intensity exercises, in which balance and stretching were focused. The second was medium intensity exercises, under which brisk walking was done on the treadmill. Apart from this, hard running was done on the treadmill in high intensity exercises. Research found that high intensity exercises proved to be more effective. Queensland University professor and study co-author Perry Bartlett said that six months of high intensity exercise was found to be sufficient for brain health.

These benefits also came out in the study

During the study, many other benefits of regular exercise were also revealed. Researchers also found that regular exercise increased the production of neurons in the hippocampus. Hippocampus is the area of the brain that is involved in memory, learning and emotions etc. In such a situation, after the research, the result was found that cognition had improved. According to researchers, regular exercise can improve the mental health of those people who are more than 60 years of age.
