Patna: Protests are still going on in Patna regarding cancellation of BPSC exam and re-examination. Meanwhile, Jan Suraj’s founder Prashant Kishore is sitting on a fast unto death at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Pappu Yadav has also talked about blocking the road from today. The government has registered an FIR against Prashant Kishor, terming his protest as illegal. However, Prashant Kishore says that if farmers can protest sitting on the road in Delhi, then how is it illegal to protest at Gandhi Maidan? He said that we are not damaging any public property.
Who gave permission to the farmers?
Jan Suraj Party chief Prashant Kishor said on the FIR being registered against him, ‘The administration is only wasting its time. An FIR was already registered against me. They should have taken action on that first. Who has given permission to the farmers who are protesting in Delhi to sit on the road and protest? If someone can protest by sitting on the streets of Delhi, then why can’t anyone protest by sitting in Gandhi Maidan in Bihar? We are neither creating any kind of ruckus nor damaging any public property, what am I doing wrong?
No one has been punished yet
Prashant Kishore further said, ‘The issue is of the youth of Bihar, the issue is that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was going door-to-door asking for votes from the youth whom he refused to meet today. Till date no one has been punished in the paper leak case, the future of the children of Bihar is being crucified. Nitish Kumar has created a complete lathi system here and someone will have to stand against it.
not doing any harm
He said, ‘An impression is being created that this (dharna) is illegal, who has said that separate permission is required to protest at Gandhi Maidan? We are not creating any disturbance, nor are we causing any damage to public property. Gandhi Maidan is a public place, we are sitting on fast and if any friend wants to come here and support us, then come and sit peacefully.”
Can protest only in Gardnibagh
On Prashant Kishor’s dharna, SDM Gaurav Kumar said, “It has been decided by the Patna High Court that Gardnibagh is the only protest site marked in Patna. Apart from that, protesting anywhere else is considered illegal. Hence the Gandhi statue. The protest being held is illegal, they have been given notice that whatever protest has to be done should be done in a legal manner, they will be given time and after that legal action will be taken.
