Asian Champions Trophy victory important keeping the next Olympics in mind: Rani Rampal

Rohtak . Former captain Rani Rampal believes the Asian Champions Trophy title is a very important achievement for the Indian women’s hockey team as it marks the beginning of its preparation for the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The Indian women’s hockey team struggled throughout the year and failed to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games. However, the Indian team was recently successful in winning its third Asian Champions Trophy title.
“The Asian Champions Trophy win is very important for our women’s hockey team in terms of preparation,” Rani told PTI. With this, he has started his preparations for the Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles in 2028. This is a good start. The team will perform well under the leadership of coach Harendra Singh. This 29-year-old player had retired from hockey last month. Earlier, she was appointed the coach of India’s sub-junior women’s team.
Rani said, “My experience of working with all the junior players was very good and I learned a lot from it. They were young girls who came from similar backgrounds to me. It was easy to understand their issues and guide them.” She said about her experience as a coach, ”I told her that if I can succeed, you too can succeed. They need guidance and I tried to give them that guidance by sharing my experiences with them.
The former striker will act as a mentor for Surma Hockey Club in the upcoming Hockey India League. There will also be a women’s tournament for the first time. Rani made her international debut in 2008 at the age of 14 in the Olympic qualifiers. He knows the kind of pressure a young player experiences. She said, “I am going to be the mentor of Soorma Club, so I will try my best to play that role to the best of my ability. There is a lot of pressure on young players to perform mentally and emotionally. I would like to help them in this.
