Amid youtuber Ranveer Allahbadia Row House Panel Writes to it ministry on digital content laws – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

A committee of Parliament has taken a big step in the matter of derogatory remarks of Ranveer Allabia, who performed the program on YouTube and other social media. The committee has sought a response from the Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology citing the use of sharp words from the Supreme Court. The committee asked the ministry to present a note on any amendment required to bring the impact of existing laws in dealing with such cases and to bring online forums under legal investigation.

Need to amend the existing laws?

The Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology headed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has written a letter to the Ministry Secretary S Krishnan on this issue. The letter said, ‘In view of the increasing incidence of misuse of digital and social media forums, the Ministry of Electronic and IT is requested to send a brief note to this committee on the impact of existing laws to deal with such cases. The Ministry should explain whether there is a need to amend the existing laws or IT Act, 2000 to bring such forums under legal investigation.

Supreme Court’s comment was also asked to take care of

The letter also said that the ministry has been asked to submit its note by 25 February. The committee asked the Ministry to focus on the Supreme Court’s remarks in which the apex court reprimanded Ranveer Allabia.

What did the court say?

Earlier, the Supreme Court said on Tuesday that it knew that podcaster Ranveer cheated and made comments from an Australian program. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh said, ‘We are not unfamiliar with reality. We are aware of this from various sources. We know that he has tried to copy it from the Australian program and from there he has tried to raise an actor’s dialogue.
