Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has made a big announcement saying that a person can become a Sarpanch, Municipal Councilor or Mayor only if he has more than two children. During this he indicated that this would prevent the decline in population. The CM further said that, he will bring policies to encourage people to have more children.

Citing countries like South Korea, Japan and continental Europe, he said people in those places did not realize the threat of population decline but instead focused only on wealth creation, increasing income and moving those countries forward. Earlier this month also Naidu expressed concern over the falling birth rate and said India should not repeat the mistakes made by other countries like South Korea and Japan, where the birth rate has declined. The Chief Minister said that nowadays some couples shy away from having children because they do not want to share their earnings and do not want to use that money for their pleasure.
