Recently, when the Yamuna river flooded, many areas of Delhi were submerged and there was an outcry. The same sign of love in the Yamuna river Agra also passes close to the Taj Mahal. The Yamuna came on the boom after several, its water hit the walls of the Taj Mahal and returned, but the Taj Mahal did not bother. This building built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan is still standing the same.
Despite being on the banks of river Yamuna, the Taj Mahal protects her unique engineering, which was adopted in the time of the Mughals. Many scientists and engineers are also surprised about this and are thinking that why do not the ground under the Taj Mahal, even after being on the banks of the river? What is the reason for this? Today we will tell about this magnificent engineering.
Many times floods
It is not that the Yamuna river never came in spate and the Taj Mahal’s place was not flooded. According to officers of the Archaeological Survey of India, the Taj Mahal has tolerated the floods of Yamuna in 1978 and 2010, but due to its unique engineering, the building remained the same. Shah Jahan’s court historian Abdul Hamid Lahori has also described this engineering.
How is the engineering of the time of Mughals
It is said that when Shah Jahan chose this place to build the Taj Mahal, then the flow of Yamuna river was very high here. At that time Yamuna flowed from the next of Taj Mahal. Therefore, it was designed in such a way that this building should not be harmed by the Yamuna water. Regarding the engineering of the Taj Mahal, historian Abdul Hamid Lahori has written that Shah Jahan deliberately selected this place to build the Taj Mahal. Actually, the place where the Taj Mahal is built is the area on the banks of the Yamuna river. In such a situation, the turn of Yamuna saves this building in case of flood or erosion.
Water does not affect the foundation of Taj Mahal
The foundation of the Taj Mahal is so strong that it does not affect the Yamuna water at all. Mahogany and Ebony wood have been used in its foundation. This wood neither rots nor is bad in water. In 1990, IIT Roorkee surveyed the Taj, in which it came out that there is such wood in the foundation of the building, which has no effect of water and it remains safe. Apart from this, 42 wells were also constructed around it to save the Taj Mahal of Yamuna water.
