Bollywood actress Mandira Bedi started her career in 1990. After giving many hit films in her career, Mandira Bedi had joined the list of most popular actresses. After this, in 2003, Mandira Bedi also got a chance to host the Cricket World Cup. But this hosting was not easy for Mandira Bedi. Mandira was insulted a lot by a player while hosting here. Due to which Mandira Bedi cried a lot. Now after 20 years, the actress’ grief has come to the fore. Mandira Bedi herself has shared this story. Recently Mandira Bedi had reached Kareena Kapoor’s show. Where he has mentioned this story.
What did Mandira say?
During a conversation with Kareena Kapoor, Mandira said, ‘Now there is space for a woman everywhere in cricket or sports broadcasting. But when you’re the first one to do it, people look at you differently. They check you out, they have comments about you and they tell you that you don’t belong there. ‘What is she doing?’ Why is she discussing cricket? But, the channel added me to ask questions. They wanted to get a new audience and that’s why they brought me on board, because it was difficult to start. When you are sitting on a panel and talking to legends, it is a different language than when you are sitting on the sofa and watching a cricket match, but here you have cameras in front of you. Speak their language.
This experience was quite interesting
Mandira further said, ‘A week was spent completely with hesitation, confusion and mistakes. At the end of every show, I would put my head down and start crying. I used to ask questions to the veterans on either side of me and they just kept looking at me. They turned to the camera and answered whatever answer they wanted, it had nothing to do with my question, because my question clearly wasn’t relevant or important to them. This was very disturbing. I felt insulted. The first week passed like this. I also cried a lot during this time. Mandira said that after the first week there was a turning point and she flipped the switch. She went for it more confidently and forced people to respond live. Mandira also said that the only legend who respected her was former Indian captain and Kareena Kapoor’s father-in-law Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
