Anger seen across the country regarding RG Kar rape case
The hearing in the doctor’s rape and murder case began on November 12 and during this, 50 witnesses were questioned. The victim’s parents have suspected the involvement of other people in the crime and demanded in the court that a more detailed investigation be conducted into the matter. Anger and resentment were seen across the country regarding the incident at RG Kar Hospital. During this period, protests, marches and rallies were organized at various places in the country. There was a lot of politics on this issue and opposition parties BJP and CPI(M) tried to corner the TMC government for this heinous crime. However, non-political movements demanding justice for the victims were more visible, in which ordinary citizens played an important role.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case, the Supreme Court had constituted the National Task Force (NTF) to suggest a protocol for the safety of doctors and other medical professionals across the country. NTF had filed a report in the Supreme Court in November last year.
