What is the claim?
A video is going viral on social media, in which slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and songs in support of ‘Hindutva’ are being raised in a residential society, and people standing in the balconies of flats are being asked to protest against ‘nationalism’. An appeal is being made to vote. This video is being linked to the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024 and is being shared as being from a residential colony in Maharashtra.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) posted the video with the caption, “Mood of Maharashtra. Maharashtra election campaign begins in a very beautiful way.” This post has so far received 267,000 views, 3,700 reposts and more than 12,000 likes. How did we find out the truth?
We searched the keyframes of the video through reverse image search and found it posted on a Facebook page named ‘Vishva Hindu Parishad Bajrang Dal Block Banskhoh’ on February 15, 2022. Post (archive Here), whose title was ‘Prabhat Pheri, Kanpur West…’. Since this video has been present on the internet for more than two years, it became clear that it is not related to the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.

During investigation, we found this video dated February 12, 2022 Post (archive Here), in which many pictures were also shared. Information was given in the post that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Prabhat Pheri concluded with Jai Ghosh at many places including Navshildham Society, Ratan Orbit Apartment, Kanha Shyam Apartment, Divinity Home Apartment located in Gautam Nagar area of Kalyanpur.
