Elections of seven wards of Patiala and 8 wards of Dharamkot were postponed.
In view of the irregularities that occurred during the nomination process in Dharamkot of Patiala and Moga, the Punjab government has now decided to postpone the elections in 7 wards of Patiala and 8 wards of Dharamkot. This information was given by the Advocate General of Punjab during the hearing on the contempt petition. Elections of ward numbers 1, 32, 33, 36, 41, 48 and 50 of Patiala have been postponed. Whereas the elections of ward numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 13 of Dharamkot have been postponed.

Declaration of public holiday on 21st December
On the recommendations of the Punjab State Election Commission regarding the General and Bye-Elections of Municipal Corporations-2024, the Punjab Government on December 21 (Saturday) under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, declared public Holiday has been declared. Apart from this, the Punjab Government has also announced a special holiday on 21 December 2024 for those voters who are working in Punjab Government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions.

Videography not allowed inside polling stations
No private person will be allowed to do videography inside the polling stations. Videography will be done outside the 100 meter radius of the polling stations.

Punjab Nikay Chunav Live: Voting begins for five corporations, 41 councils and panchayats, results will come in the evening
For the first time, votes will be cast through EVMs in the civic elections to be held in Punjab today. 3336 candidates are in the fray for the civic elections. The results of the elections will also come by late night. The State Election Commission will allow videography outside the polling stations by private individuals, including candidates and general public, workers of political parties.
