A team of Australia scientists has developed a new blood test, which is capable of detecting possible health problems in the early stage of pregnancy. According to the Xinhua News Agency, researchers at the University of Queensland (UCU) said in their research on Thursday that their “Nanoflaor Sensor” could reduce the possibility of Newborn Baby’s hospitalization.
What is the use of this test
This test examines the biomarkers in pregnant women’s blood. It can detect problems like diabetes in pregnancy, premature birth and high blood pressure in 11 weeks of pregnancy. Carlos Salomon Galllo, scientist at UCU’s Clinical Research Center, said that his team tried the sensor on the blood sample of 201 pregnant women and successfully detected the potential problems in them.
Galllo said, “Right now most pregnancy related problems are detected in the second or third quarter, which makes it difficult to treat in time. But with the help of this new technology, pregnant women can already consult a doctor. We found that our biosensor can identify problems with more than 90 percent of accurates.”
Help can also be found in these problems
He also informed that this technique can reduce the number of children admitted to NICU and can help prevent problems related to pregnancy like emergency cesarean. This can save the health system every year to save crores of dollars.
Mustafa Kamal Masood, a scientist of the Australian Institute for Bio -Engineering and Nano Technology, said that this technique identifies indicators which do not get caught in the current test by using Nanosenesor.
