If you want to get your children admitted in nursery class in private schools of Delhi, then this news is for you. Let us tell you that the admission process for nursery in about 1,741 private schools of the Union Territory is going to start from Thursday i.e. 28th November, for which the registration process has also started. The Department of Education (DOE) of Delhi Government had announced this by issuing a circular on November 12. It was written in the circular that the admission process for Nursery, KG and Class 1 for the session 2025-26 in private schools of the city will start from November 28.
When is the last date?
It was further said that the last date for submission of registration form is December 20 and the first general admission list will be released on January 17, 2025. Many schools have decided and uploaded their admission criteria.
All private schools will upload the list of applied children on the website on January 10, under the 100 point criteria. After this, all the schools will release the first list of selected children on January 17.
What are the criteria for admission?
- The criteria for many schools are neighbourhood, distance and proximity to schools, while girl child, single girl child, siblings and singer parents are also other criteria on the list.
- Some schools have also listed criteria for Sikh and Christian minorities, economically disadvantaged groups and physically handicapped parents.
- Some schools have also given importance to some areas and sectors in the list.
- Private unaided recognized schools use a point system for the selection process, in which 30 to 100 marks will be awarded for meeting various criteria.
- Whereas, most of the schools have marked neighborhood and remote areas with maximum marks between 30-90.
More than 900 schools did not upload the criteria
According to the Directorate of Education, out of 1,741 schools, only 778 have uploaded their criteria, while 963 are yet to comply with them. Let us inform that the Directorate of Education had directed all the schools to upload the criteria on their official websites by November 25.
25 percent seats will be reserved
Let us inform that private unaided recognized schools have been instructed to reserve 25 percent of their seats for economically weaker sections (EWS), disadvantaged groups (DG) and children with disabilities. Separate admission lists will be issued for these categories.
What is the age limit for which class?
In another circular, the minimum age for admission till March 31, 2025 has been fixed at 3 years for Nursery, 4 years for KG and 5 years for Class 1. It says that the maximum age limit for Nursery is below 4 years, for KG below 5 years and for Class 1 below 6 years. At the same time, it was further said that it is not mandatory to buy the prospectus and the registration fee can be done only for Rs 25.
