Chandra Kumar Bose, great grandson of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. He urged the Prime Minister to take immediate steps to bring Netaji’s ‘remains’ kept in the Renkoji temple in Japan to India before his birth anniversary on January 23 next year.

In the letter, he said that it is a ‘big insult’ to Netaji that his ‘remains’ are still kept in the Renkoji temple in Japan. He also said that Netaji wished to return to independent India. But he sacrificed his life on 18 August 1945 for India’s independence.

‘Monument built in honor of Netaji on the Path of Duty’

Chandra Kumar Bose also requested the Prime Minister to build a memorial in Netaji’s honor on the duty road in Delhi. In the letter he wrote, Netaji’s remains are still in the Renkoji Temple in Japan. It is a great insult that his remains lie in a foreign land. It is extremely important that Netaji’s remains are brought to India before January 23 and a memorial is built in his honor in Delhi.

‘Government should issue final statement on Netaji’s demise’

He further said, it is commendable that under your (PM Modi) leadership, the Government of India took steps to make public the files related to Netaji. After all the files became public it is clear that Netaji died on 18 August 1945. Therefore, it is necessary that a final statement is now issued by the government, so that the false notions being spread about India’s freedom fighter can be ended.

Mention of the three-member committee formed in the Nehru government

Chandra Kumar Bose also referred to the three-member inquiry committee constituted by the Jawaharlal Nehru government in 1956, which had prepared a report on Netaji’s death. He also said that the Khosla Commission report of 1974 and the Justice Mukherjee Commission report of 2005 had come to different conclusions on Netaji’s death, which the Government of India found correct and supported.
