Prayagraj has made a strong presence with the historic record for the first time on the tourism map of the world. All the records of tourism are broken. According to the tourism department, about 55 lakh foreign tourists have come in 45 days of Mahakumbh. Last year, only about 5,000 foreigners came.

This time Mahakumbh has been historic in many ways. Diplomat from 73 countries and foreign devotees from 116 countries came to take a Sangam bath. Most of these came from Nepal, America, Britain, Sri Lanka, Canada and Bangladesh. It also arrived with more than 100 countries including Russia, Japan, Germany, France, Brazil, Malaysia, New Zealand, Italy, Canada and Thailand.

These people also saw Varanasi, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Mathura and Gorakhpur along with Prayag. The arrival of foreigners has provided benefits in hotels, guides, transport, handicrafts and local businesses. V. Anant Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor of the Central Government, says, the impact of the expenditure of crores of people in Mahakumbh will be seen in the fourth quarter GDP.

At the same time, Naimisharanya and Prayagraj have been selected in the Central Government’s Swadesh Darshan-two schemes. This is also expected to get new heights to tourism.
