Alcohol and beer will be available from the same shop

What is the whole matter?
Uttar Pradesh Excise Policy 2025-26 has come into force. Earlier, the Excise Department said in a statement that under the new policy, joint shops are being made instead of different shops of English and foreign liquor and beer, which will increase retail density without increasing the number of shops.
The statement said that joint shops with at least 400 sq ft area and other conditions can be converted into a ‘model shop’ and can serve alcohol to customers. According to the statement, indigenous liquor shops have also been given the option to sell beer with certain conditions.
Low alcohol bar (only beer and wine serving beer and wine) have been introduced in Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra and Lucknow. Bar and premium retail shops will be opened in IT and ITES establishments with an area of over 20,000 square meters in development authorities and industrial areas.
According to the statement, the ‘event bar license’ has been classified into different categories to prevent misuse. Several steps have been taken to promote tourism in ‘Distillery’, ‘Winery’ and ‘Bruge’. In a meeting held in February under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the cabinet approved the excise policy for the financial year 2025-26, which made several major changes, including the introduction of e-Lottery system for the allocation of liquor and cannabis shops.
The government has also introduced the concept of “Composite Shops” for the first time, in which different beer and foreign liquor shops have been merged into a unit. (input language)
