In the US elections, Kamala Harris of Indian origin will be the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party against Donald Trump. In the ongoing election to become the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, she has secured the support of the number of delegates needed to win. After getting majority votes in the elections, Kamala said that I am feeling honoured.
It is now clear that Kamala will contest the election against Republican Party candidate Donald Trump. She will be the first black woman and South Asian woman in America to contest for the post of President.

Kamala received support within 24 hours of Biden’s withdrawal
On July 21, US President Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential election. Then he put forward Kamala’s name as presidential candidate. After this Harris announced to contest the election.
On July 22, the day after Biden withdrew, Kamala secured the majority for the nomination from the Democratic Party. According to the New York Times, Kamala Harris got the support of 1976 out of 4 thousand delegates.
After this, on July 26, she officially announced her candidacy by filling the form for nomination. After Biden’s withdrawal from the race, all the big leaders of the Democratic Party have supported Kamala Harris. These include former President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle Obama, as well as Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Harris leads in 4 polls, Trump leads in 8
After Biden’s exit from the election, the Democratic Party has gained an advantage. Kamala Harris is ahead of Trump in at least 4 polls. However, Trump is still ahead in more polls. Trump is ahead of Harris in at least 8 polls, but here the margin between them is decreasing.
In the Economist/YouGov polls released on July 31, Harris is ahead of Trump by two points. Kamala is liked by 46% of the voters while Trump is liked by 44% of the voters.
Harris is ahead by one point in the Reuters/Ipsos polls released on July 30. In this, Kamala is said to be the choice of 43% people while Trump is the choice of 42% people.
Trump said- it is not clear whether Kamala is Indian or black
Earlier on Wednesday, during a rally in the US state of Arizona, presidential candidate from Trump’s party JD Vance called Kamala Harris fake. Addressing the supporters, Vance said that Kamala grew up in Canada.
Earlier, during an interview, former President Donald Trump questioned Harris’s racial identity. Trump said that Kamala Harris always described herself as being of Indian heritage, but suddenly a few years ago she became black.
Trump said that for many years he did not know that Kamala was black, he thought that she was of Indian origin. Now for the past few years, Kamala has started calling herself black. The former US President said that Kamala wants to be known in the world as a black woman, so I do not know whether she is Indian or black.
Kamala beats Trump in the survey
Since Kamala’s name came up for the presidential candidacy, the performance of the Democratic Party has improved in the American polls. According to the Morning Consult poll, Kamala is now ahead of Republican candidate Donald Trump in 4 out of 7 important states.
Harris has overtaken Trump in the Reuters and Ipsos surveys. Trump is leading in two states. The contest is evenly matched in one seat. Whereas when Biden was in the election fray, he was lagging behind Trump in all these states. On the other hand, Kamala has further increased her influence in the Democratic Party.
