A Japanese man who married fictional singer Hatsune Miku in 2018 celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary on November 4. 41-year-old Akihiko Kondo has shared pictures of his wedding anniversary celebrations in several posts on Instagram. Kondo’s post, translated from Japanese to English, reads, “Today is our wedding anniversary. It’s been 6 years.” According to the South China Morning Post, it contains pictures of Miku sitting in front of her anniversary cake with a message saying, “I love Miku. Happy six-year anniversary.”

Fell in love with robot while getting treatment for disease
Speaking to Japanese news outlet The Mainichi Shimbun, Kondo said he had been romantically interested in women since before middle school. During this time, he had also developed a serious illness, for the treatment of which Miku helped him a lot and since then he started loving her. Kondo fell in love with Miku in 2007, shortly after the character’s release. Miku, whose name means “the first sound of the future” in English, is officially known as Vocaloid – a type of singing voice synthesizer software that works like a robot.
