Violent riots in Bangladesh:

The situation in Bangladesh has gone out of control due to the violent protests over reservation. In such a situation, the Indian Embassy has also become alert. India has issued a special advisory for its citizens, especially students, living in Bangladesh and a helpline number for help in emergency situations. India has said that in view of the current violent situation in Bangladesh, the people of the Indian community and students living there should avoid any travel and stay at home. In case of any emergency, contact the Indian Embassy there. The High Commission of India is ready to serve its citizens 24 hours a day.

India has said that if its citizens and students get stuck in any emergency situation in Bangladesh, they can contact by calling or Whatsapp at 880-1937400591 in Dhaka. Apart from this, the office of Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong can be contacted by calling or Whatsapp at 880-1814654797 and 880-1814654799. Similarly, one can ask for help by calling or Whatsapp at 880-1788148696 in Rajshahi and 880-1313076411 in Sylhet and 880-1812817799 in Khulna. These services are available for 24 hours.

Why is there violence in Bangladesh

At least six people died two days ago in protests demanding reforms in the reservation system. In view of this, the authorities on Wednesday urged all universities to stop teaching activities. Some universities immediately complied, but some universities have not yet taken any decision in this regard. The University Grants Commission has asked all public and private universities to suspend classes and vacate hostels till further notice for the safety of students. The country’s universities operate autonomously. At least six people, including three students, were killed and more than 100 others were injured on Tuesday in clashes between protesters and police in major cities of Bangladesh demanding reforms in the reservation system in government jobs.
