Gujarat College Assault: Two trainee students of Government Medical College in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, shared jokes on social media. In fact, seniors of trainee students and batch colleagues beaten both of them hostage and beat them badly. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the victims. At the same time, the college administration, considering this incident as ragging, has dismissed the four accused students with immediate effect. The victims reported that some of his batchmates and a senior were allegedly detained and assaulted by some of his batchmates about the jokes shared by him on Instagram.

The aggrieved Internues Ishan Kotak and Aman Joshi said in their complaint that the accused were not even happy with the sports activities in the senior student and the batchmate, medical college. Aman Joshi alleged that four of his batchmates and a senior late night came to his hostel room and took him to another room, where the accused slapped him several times, abused and threatened to kill him. In his complaint, Ishan Kotak said that he was asked to come out of his hostel room and meet four batchmates near the hostel. When he went there, he and his friend who came with him were put in a vehicle, rotated and assaulted him.

The police have registered cases in sections such as wrongly hostage on the accused students, intentionally hurting, insulting someone to disturb peace and using pornographic acts and language in public place. Police said the investigation is going on and the accused are yet to be arrested. Dr. Sushil Jha, Dean of Medical College, said that he took quick action considering the matter as ragging. He said, ‘This incident is similar to ragging. The 11-member Anti-Ragging Committee of the Medical College held a meeting and decided to suspend four students with immediate effect and confiscate their certificates. The committee will hold a meeting again next Saturday and take further action.
