Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Genome India Project program through video conferencing. He said that today India has taken a historic step in the field of research. The Genome India Project was approved five years ago. He said that bioeconomy accelerates sustainable development. The country’s bioeconomy has grown rapidly in the last 10 years. The value of the country’s bioeconomy was $10 billion in 2014, which has now increased to more than $150 billion. India has made a special identity as a pharma hub in the world. Crores of people are being given free treatment and better health infrastructure is being provided to the people. These are some of the major achievements of the last 10 years.

PM Modi said, “Our scientists had made projects to deal with the challenges that came during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am very happy to say that more than 20 research institutions played an important role.”

He further said, “The Genome India Project is an important milestone in the biotechnology revolution. We have been successful in creating diverse genetic resources. Genome sequencing of 10,000 people has been done in this project. This will help scientists understand the genetic landscape of India. He further said, in the last 10 years, the world has been looking towards India for various experiments in Atal Tinkering Labs. Center has launched ‘One Nation One Subscription’ (ONOS) initiative.
