The Justice Department may release the investigation report of special counsel Jack Smith in the 2020 election interference case of US President-elect Donald Trump. A federal judge gave indications in this regard on Monday.
The decision by US District Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump to the bench, is the latest part of the ongoing court dispute over the special counsel’s report. The special counsel had prosecuted Trump in two cases, which the Justice Department closed in November.
Canon had previously blocked release of the report.
