Birth and family
Duti Chand was born on 03 February 1996 in Jajpur district of Odisha. His father’s name is Chakradhar Chand and mother’s name is Akhuji. Duti Chand was born in a very ordinary family and has spent her childhood in poverty. Born in the weaver family, Duti Chand got the inspiration from his elder sister Saraswati to become a runner. She has been a state level runner. Duti used to training continuously and worked hard. She used to do jogging on the raw roads of her village.

She became the 5th female athlete of the country to participate in women’s 100 meters after getting a ticket for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Then in the year 2018, Duti won two medals at the Asian Games held in Jakarta. Out of this, women got a silver medal in the 100 meter finals. This medal was given to India two decades after PT Usha. Duti Chand was an Indian to win a gold medal after 16 years after winning the women’s 200 meters final.

In 2014, Duti Chand was preparing for the Commonwealth Games. During that time AFI disqualified him. Duti Chand was banned from participating in any event as a female athlete due to hyper &rogenism. But after fighting a long battle, it was decided to lift the ban on Duti Chand after an appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2015.
