Aurangzeb is considered the most staunch among all the Mughal emperors. It is remembered for strict religious rules and hardcore policies. The music and dance which flourished during the period of the rest of the Mughal rulers banned it by Aurangzeb and showed a lot of strictness against him. Music and dance were banned in his court. The song-Bajana is considered against Islamic laws. Aurangzeb enacted civil law on the basis of Islamic Sharia law for rule during his reign. Aurangzeb believed that singing is against the rules of Islam. Many musicians of his court either changed their work or took refuge in the court of another king.
Ban on alcohol
Aurangzeb himself never touted alcohol. He was completely banned from drinking alcohol and doing its business. It was described as haraam for both Hindu and Muslim. At the time of his rule, it was very difficult to find alcohol in Delhi.
Ban on opium
Aurangzeb also banned opium. He tried his best to clamp down on both its use and yield. However, he could not succeed in this. Apart from this, Aurangzeb used to have a very strict attitude on prostitution and all such works. In that era, all such things were completely banned.
