The January 2025 transfer window has almost opened. Here, windows are opening for most of the big football leagues in Europe and the world, including England’s EPL. This transfer window is going to be the busiest. Because clubs will do their best to be strong in the pursuit of silverware, or survival.
Clubs across all leagues will be able to sign players as free agents even after the deadline. Provided that they have not officially joined any club on Monday i.e. 3rd February. A deal can be agreed between leagues with different transfer windows. They will be officially completed when the signing club window opens.
What is transfer window?
In most of the big football leagues of Europe and the world, including EPL, teams add players in the transfer window. Such a window opens twice a year. One window opens mid-season i.e. in the middle of the season and one window opens in the off-season i.e. between two seasons. If a player is already under contract with a club, then many other teams can add that player by paying a transfer fee to that club. If a player is not under contract then the club can contract him directly.

premier league transfer window
The Premier League transfer market will reopen on Wednesday, January 1 and will be closed until Monday, February 3. It includes all European leagues. The window in England will close at 11pm (UK time) on 3 February.
When does the January transfer window close in Spain, Italy, Germany and France?
The main European windows will also close on Monday 3 February 2025. The Bundesliga deadline is first (5pm UK), followed by Serie A (7pm), Ligue 1 in France (10pm) and finally La Liga, which, like England, is at 11pm.
Which countries can still sign players after these dates?
In the Netherlands and Portugal, teams will have an extra day to finish their work before the transfer window closes on Tuesday 4 February 2025. Turkey also has until Tuesday 11 February, while Switzerland will close on Monday 17 February and Poland on Saturday 22 February.
However, Saudi Arabia’s window closes earlier than Europe’s on Friday 31 January.
Women’s Super League transfer window
The WSL window opens on Wednesday 1 January and runs until Thursday 30 January.
MLS transfer window
The MLS transfer window for the 2025 season officially opens on Friday, January 31. Whose first match will be held on February 22 between Inter Miami and New York City. The first window will close on April 23.
