New Delhi, December 25 (Gaurav Lalit/Pratyush Ranjan PTI Fact Check), A news clip is being shared rapidly on social media, in which users are claiming that the fourth wave of Corona is coming back in January 2025. In the viral video clip, the Republic Bharat anchor can be seen saying, “January can be deadly. There is a need to be cautious for the next 40 days.”
PTI Fact Check Desk investigated and proved the viral claim to be fake. Investigation revealed that the viral video is from December 2022. Users are sharing two years old videos as if they are from today.
Claim:
While sharing a video on the social media platform Facebook on December 17, a user wrote, “New yaar 2025, be careful, Corona’s havoc is coming again in January, thousands of people are losing their lives every day in China.” Linkarchive Link See more screenshots here.

Investigation:
To know the truth of the viral claim, the desk first searched the information related to Covid-19 on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There we did not find any report regarding the fourth wave of Corona in 2025. According to the information given on the website, currently there are 11 active cases of Corona in India. There is no advisory on the website regarding Corona in 2025.
Taking the investigation further, we searched on Google with related keywords. There too we did not find any media report of Corona returning in 2025.
The Desk spoke to anchor Syed Suhail to know the truth about the clip going viral. Syed said, “Information about Corona was given on the basis of the report that came in 2022. “No such report has come recently.” Our investigation revealed that the viral report is from 2022, which users are sharing as current. The desk searched all the programs of Syed Suhail on YouTube for the last 6 months, we did not find the viral clip anywhere.
Regarding the situation of Corona in 2025, Professor Sunit Kumar Singh, Director of Dr. BR Ambedkar Biomedical Research Center (ACBR), Delhi, said, “There is no alert regarding the fourth wave of Corona in 2025. Therefore there is no need to panic at all. Like 2024, the situation will remain normal in 2025 also.”
