He was arrested by Bangladesh Police from Dhaka Airport on Monday on charges of treason and disturbing communal harmony. In protest against this, people of the Hindu community took to the streets of Dhaka and blocked the road. There were also reports of violence from many places. Das is the leader of the Hindu group Samishta Sanatani Jot.

Bangladesh said, ‘Such baseless statements not only misrepresent the facts but are also contrary to the spirit of friendship and understanding between the two neighboring countries.’
