The Indian Foreign Ministry has rejected the reports that Pakistani players are not being given visas for the Scrabble tournament being held in India and has termed these media reports as false. There is a tussle going on between the cricket teams of India and Pakistan regarding the Champions Trophy, but in the meantime, the issue of Pakistani players allegedly not getting visas for the Asia Cup Youth Scrabble Championship and Delhi Cup has come to light.
According to some media reports, Pakistani players had claimed that they had not been issued visas. According to these reports, Pakistani players had already applied two times, but till now nothing has been done regarding it. However, the Ministry of External Affairs has now taken cognizance of these reports and rejected it.
’12 visas issued for Pakistani team’
According to news agency ANI, sources said that 12 visas were issued for the Pakistan team on November 7, 2024. All these visas were issued on time so that they could come to India to participate in these tournaments.
Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA) director Tariq Pervez had expressed disappointment about this. He had said that without any reason, visas were not given to half the team, including players who were part of the winning team in 2022.
