2036 Olympic Games Hosting in India:

President Draupadi Murmu said that India is excited to host the 2036 Olympic Games. If the 2036 Olympic Games are held in India, the culture of sports in the country will grow rapidly and new players will be inspired to enter sports. President Draupadi Murmu also said that Kabaddi should also be included in the 2036 Olympic Games. In the Paris Olympics that ended in August, India won a total of 6 medals including 5 bronze and 1 silver.

I like watching Indian sports
Murmu said, “I like watching sports, but I don’t get many opportunities to watch it. Whenever I get a chance, I like to watch Indian sports. Olympics should be held in India. Their arrival will inspire players to play sports.”

President Draupadi Murmu said that she likes watching Indian sports.

Hosting can be available till 2026
The 2028 Olympic Games are to be held in the US and 2032 in Australia. The hosting of the 2036 Olympic Games is not decided yet, the International Olympic Committee can take a decision on hosting by 2026 or 2027. Apart from India, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Indonesia, Mexico and Qatar are also contenders for hosting.

The President said that sports like Kabaddi should also be included in the Olympics.

PM Modi has also expressed his desire to host the games
Before the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also expressed his desire to host the Olympic Games in his speech on August 15. He is confident that the country can host a show-piece event like the Olympics. Modi had said, “It is India’s dream to host the 2036 Olympic Games. We have also started preparing for it.”

Murmu played badminton with Nehwal
Recently, the President played badminton with shuttler Saina Nehwal, who won an Olympic medal for India. He also posted his photo with Nehwal on social media. Both were playing badminton in the Rashtrapati Bhavan itself.

Murmu posted a photo with Nehwal and wrote, Natural love for sports. The President also flagged off the trophy tour of Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest football tournament.

President Draupadi Murmu was recently seen playing badminton with Saina Nehwal.

India was ranked 71st in the Paris Olympics
The Olympic Games in Paris ended on 11 August. India finished 71st by winning 5 bronze and 1 silver medal. The country’s only silver was won by javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. While 5 bronze medals came in shooting, wrestling and hockey. The country got 3 medals in shooting.

The US topped the Olympic medal tally and China was second. Both won 40 gold medals each, with the US topping the list with a total of 125 medals while China won 91 medals. Japan was third, Australia fourth and host France fifth.
