Born on 26 January 2021, Anish Sarkar achieved his first rating of 1555 at the age of 3 years 8 months 19 days. His first rating tournament was the 1st SXCCAA All Bengal Rapid Rating Open 2024. He scored an impressive 5/11 there. After this, Anish, who lives in North Kolkata, has become the youngest player in the world to achieve FIDE rating at the age of just 3 years, 8 months and 19 days. Anish broke the record of India’s Tejas Tiwari. Tejas Tiwari had achieved this feat at the age of less than 5 years.
Anish made his competitive chess debut at the West Bengal State Under-9 Open Tournament in October. This young player performed impressively in his first competition, scoring 5.5 points out of a possible 8. Meanwhile, he defeated two rated players Arav Chatterjee and Ahilan Baishya. He finished 24th overall.
Meanwhile, he also got a chance to play against Grandmaster Arjun Irigasi. After this, Anish Sarkar got a chance to play in the West Bengal State Under-13 Open. In that tournament he qualified to face five rated players. In this way he got a preliminary rating of 1555 in FIDE ratings.
